There is no miracle cure in this world for periodontal disease.
Periolase or LANAP is a procedure that is used as an alternative
treatment to pocket reduction periodontal surgery. In my experience
LANAP is a very effective treatment to reduce periodontal pockets that
is 6mm+. It may not be as effective in treating furcation areas, and
growing bones in horizontal defects. But I truely believe it is a
treatment that can be as effective as osseous surgery with a #15
blade. The key is to remove all the calculus and smooth the diseased
tooth surface. Not all LANAPers are the same, just like not all
dentists and periodontists have the same skills. Laser is just a tool
like a drill. a blade.......What make it work is the dentist who have
the passion and desire to make the dentistry better time after time.
That take experience, passion and time with an open mind.
