I am not pointing this to jerm. I *am* pointing it to whomever is
reading this for whatever reasons they have.
If ("TMJ") patients look online for people to commiserate with, it is
likely that they will never get their heads on straight. They feed into
each other's misery and the negativity is almost unbelievable.
People say they want to feel better. If this applies to "you" ... here
is what I have to say:
The key is to get a life for yourself in the real world and interact
with a cross section of people who do more than sit behind a keyboard
complaining about all that ails them, who is at fault for it and how
they're sure they'll never get better.
There are people living with enormous challenges in their lives. Take a
clue from the ones who have discovered that life is too short to just
wallow in their misery. Make every day count. Sure, there will be bad
days but everyone has bad days ... some more than others and some worse
than others. Life isn't a bowl of cherries for human being because they
are human.
But, the online "TMJ" complainers are broken records. Many are young
and they read the stuff that's been perpetuated online for years and
years as though it is today's breaking news. They go to websites that
feed the way they want to feel. If they don't want to feel all caught
up in the hopelessness ... then why don't they get out and LIVE in spite
of their misery? If they can sit in front of a computer with endless
energy, they can do something else with equal zest.
I fear the entire "TMJ" mess is going to simply repeat itself *because
of the internet*. Misinformation is like any gossip. People just can't
get enough of that stuff. Yesterday, I went online to see what the view
looked like. Same old, same old.
"They" used to say, "TMJ" people don't want to get well; they just want
to prove that they can't. Well, I'm wondering if much of anything has
really changed over all these years.
And then there was me. I never fit the mold and I still don't but that
doesn't mean I can't see what is going on.
Ugh.
